The pandemic impact

The Coronavirus pandemic is marked as dark age in history, may be worse than the wartime in the past. Worldwide, millions of people were infected in more than 200 countries and the number is still on the rise.  Worldwide, more than 3,000,000 people are infected and of these, 1/3 are in the US. The death toll in the US is now over 60,000 total. In early April, the US death doubled from 10,000 to more than 20,000, in just five days. It is the first time a US president has ever declared a  major disaster in all 50 states at once.

The death of a loved one is a profound grief and pain, many are also experience grief as a result of job loss, emotional trauma, and depressing world event like the coronavirus pandemic.

This is real life in a war zone fighting with Coronavirus -
  • More than 60,000 lives were lost in the US as end of April, 2020.
  • Millions of Jobs were lost in the US.
  • Schools were closed.
  • Restraints, hair salons, shops, theaters, and all non-essential businesses were closed.
  • Supplies are in demand but store shelves may be empty.
  • Hospitals are overflow and equipment are in shortage.
  • Travel and transportation were restricted internationally and domestically.
  • And more……

Many are being alone for self- quarantine at home or due to lock down. The social distancing makes us feeling alienated. In these home-alone days,  time is quiet and slowing down,  news are scary with Coronavirus continued development, family and friends are distant, economy is depressing, future is uncertain.

Spend quality time alone

In fact, everyone is a loner, at times, in real life. Being alone is part of the process to maturity, as we need to learn to be self-content. When we are alone, we are our true self with complete freedom. We own our life for a purpose, not live for others expectations or try to please others.

Since many think anti-social is a bad label, we try to be popular and making many friends, but often find ourselves loosing time on superficial conversations and wasting time on shallow relationships. Charming social outlook may shine, but being alone retains true personal value. Critical thinking is only possible when time alone, without noise and interruptions. Everyone came to this world alone, therefore, being alone is a basic surviving skill.

Get help during this tough time

Being alone doesn’t mean to be lonely. If you are feeling fearful and lonely, don’t know how to going through day to day to cope with and heal from this pandemic, get help.

  1. If you feel sad, it’s natural. Acknowledge your true emotions; no need to repress your true feelings.
  2. Tell your stories and cry out if you want to, share your inner emotions for tension relieve. If you need someone trustworthy to talk to or grief, I am here to listen and support you to re-establish a sense of safety again.
  3. Take care of yourself is most important at this time. Do something today, put yourself in good hands to help you empower yourself through this tough time. The first step is to speak out.

  • Focus on basics of self-care – quality sleep, healthy eating, stay active and maintain psycho-social well-being. Keep your hopes on and get life back on track.
