A Green Tea Invitation

The holiday season is up coming.  Everyone is making or about to make holiday plans.  There will be many home and business parties with cheers and celebrations.  Please invite a green tea time after meal at your gathering with families and friends. It’s natural and healthy. It will benefit digestion and cut down sugary drinks.

Green tea has been widely studied and it has been recommended as a healthy beverage.  A publication by the University of Maryland Medical Center well highlighted the health benefit of the green tea, as well as stated in webMD and many other professional journals. To learn more, see recommended readings below.

To take these health benefits, you will need to make the green tea time a daily routine and stick with it.  Try this –
  • Put on your calendar for an afternoon tea time (between 2 – 4 PM).
  • To start, you may try tea tasting for personal choice for green tea selection.  Using a small amount (only cover the center of the bottom of the cup) for a light fragrant flavor; for tea pot infusers, measure accordingly. 
  • Broil the water (100 °C) then wait it cool down to about 80 °C to make the tea (make sure the water is broiled for safety but not too hot, which may overkill the leaf tea).
  • If you prefer pre- rinse, use small amount of water to run through and discard, then fill up the cup/tea pot and cover for 5 minutes.  The tea will get stronger with time.
  • Voila! Enjoy in small sips. You may refill water for a 2nd cup.
Practical advices:
  • Brewed tea is more preferable than the bottled tea
  • Loose leaf tea is more preferable than tea bags, see recommendations below
  • Natural tea is more preferable than processed (i.e., decaffeinated) tea
  • Milk, sugar, and lemon are commonly used with red teas, not with green tea
  • Ceramic/glass cups or specialty tea set are recommended
